TAKE A DIP
HI, I’M GALE
I find myself being a frequent daydreamer. My mind flows from one idea to the next, creating and synthesizing. From the outside, looks like nobody’s home but I’m usually ripe with thoughts.
I went to my therapist about this thinking of it as a problem, but I came to realize it is a strength. In my musings over it, I gave it a name: my Dreamwaters. I take pride not just in having the mind I do, but learning to work with it; it’s led me to great results (though perhaps through chaotic process).
I retreat into my Dreamwaters to take solace in the joyous chaos of my thoughts to translate that, as best as I can, into beautiful art. Not just for myself— but for those who see eye-to-eye with this organic approach.
The name translates to my photography as well— lately I find myself drawn towards photographs evoking figments, memories, and feelings, like light shimmering over gentle water. Conversely, I also find myself drawn towards stark, dramatic, and assertive images, like a deluge of rain.
Whatever your vision, I bet I can do a great job translating it into photograph.
